Caution: Phishing Scam
Consumers beware! We recently learned of a phishing scam in Guatemala that purports to be from TransUnion. These emails look similar to legitimate TransUnion email messages but they do not come from our company. Instead, they are a scam designed to trick you into disclosing personal information for the purpose of fraud or identity theft. Nothing is more important to Transunion than the safety and security of consumers’ personal information, and we never request personal information via email.
Here are a few tips to avoid phishing traps:
- Beware of emails that ask you to confirm personal, financial, or password information and/or make urgent requests for this information. TransUnion never asks for this type of information via email.
- Beware of links in emails that ask for personal information, even if the email appears to come from TransUnion or another company you do business with.
- Beware of clicking any links contained within emails that direct you to external sites.
If you’re unsure about a TransUnion message, contact our Guatemala office at (502) 2207 2423.
